In every shop in Japan there is at least one item for sale that uses the image of the Fujisan. I have often wondered how much the sale of these objects could generate and what symbol would replace that of the Fujisan if it did not exist.
Also, when I wander around Fujisan, or anywhere in Japan, I frequently ask myself "how much money does Fujisan make?". There is a whole economy based on this mountain. Every restaurant, shop, hotel, amusement park around Fujisan exists because of it. Without the mountain, this ecosystem might not exist at all! When you land in Haneda, the first thing you see, on your way to the parking, is a big picture of Fujisan. That icone accompagns you during your whole stay. You see Fujisan, drink Fujisan, sleep, play, eat, consume Fujisan.
To approach this topic from a photographic perspective, I created an imaginary catalogue of objects for sale. Every item is related in a way to Fujisan. All together, they draw the outer lines of the economic side of Fujisan.
